NEET-PG 2026 online registration window opens and closes. Make sure to keep your Aadhaar biometrics unlocked during this period to avoid verification issues.
NBE will inform all registered candidates of their allotted examination cities. Plan your travel accordingly based on the correspondence address logic.
The main computer-based NEET-PG 2026 examination will be conducted across designated venues. 180 questions, 3 hours 30 minutes duration.
NBE expects to declare results and issue the merit rankings by the end of September. Counseling processes will begin shortly after.
Understanding the structural shifts in the exam parameters is vital for mapping your mock test strategy.
NBE has introduced critical changes regarding state selection, address proofs, and Aadhaar verification.
The total question count is reduced from 200 to 180, decreasing the maximum total marks from 800 to 720. The exam remains divided into 5 sections, meaning each section now contains 36 questions instead of 40.
Crucial Benefit: Because section duration remains 42 minutes, you get ~70 seconds per question instead of ~63 seconds. This provides more cognitive breathing room for clinical vignettes.
NBE has modified the city allotment algorithm. First-come-first-serve state allotment is discontinued. Instead, candidates must choose exactly 3 preferred test states.
First Preference Rule: Your first preference state must match your correspondence address state to ensure students do not have to travel excessive distances.
Candidates must upload valid address proof for their correspondence address state AND their permanent/home state. If you reside in a state that is different from your permanent home state, you must provide correspondence proof (like a rent agreement, utility bill, etc.) for that state to request it as a preferred testing location.
NBE will verify identity biometrically. You must keep your Aadhaar biometrics UNLOCKED on the UIDAI portal. Additionally, candidates are strongly advised to avoid applying henna (mehndi) on fingers or hands close to the exam date, as it will disrupt fingerprint scanning. Iris or alternate biometric methods may be used as backup options.
